Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed) Ensure it's thawed for easy handling.
  • 2 medium apples, sliced (preferably a mix of sweet and tart)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup raisins (optional)
  • 1 large egg (for egg wash)
  • to taste Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, and raisins (if using). Toss together until the apples are well coated.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet to smooth out any creases.
  4. Place the apple mixture in the center of the pastry in a circular pattern, leaving approximately 2 inches of space at the edges.
  5. Gently fold the edges of the pastry over the apples, crimping or tucking them in for a rustic look.
  6. Beat the egg and brush it over the folded pastry.
  7. Transfer the pastry onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until it’s puffed and golden.
  8. Once cool, dust the top with powdered sugar before slicing and serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Freeze before baking for longer shelf life. To reheat, place slices in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes.
