  • 2 cups pitted dates, chopped Ensure dates are fresh for best flavor.
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped Can be substituted with pecans or almonds.
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs Make sure they are at room temperature.
  • 1 cup water Add gradually while mixing.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a standard loaf pan with oil or non-stick spray.
  3. In a large bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Gradually stir in the water until combined.
  5. Gently fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. Carefully incorporate the chopped dates and walnuts into the batter.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan and place it in the oven.
  2. Let it bake for about 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  3. Once done, let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
  4. Slice and enjoy!

Notes

For best results, allow the bread to cool completely before cutting. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-5 days or freeze individually wrapped slices for up to three months.
