  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add in the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  7. Gently fold in the chopped dates and walnuts until evenly distributed.
  8. Use a tablespoon or cookie scoop to portion out the dough onto the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  10. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
