Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9-inch round cake pan with butter or cooking spray, and line the bottom with parchment paper for easy removal.
- In a bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy (about 3-5 minutes).
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry flour mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- Gently fold in the chopped dates and walnuts until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve with a dusting of powdered sugar if desired.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days or refrigerate for up to a week. For freezing, wrap tightly in plastic and then in foil for up to three months. Reheat in the microwave for 10-15 seconds to refresh flavors.
