Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure even baking.
- In a mixing bowl, beat together the softened unsalted butter and dark brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
- Crack in the egg and add the vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to over-mix!
- Gently fold in the dark chocolate chips until they’re evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Using a tablespoon or cookie scoop, portion out the dough onto a lined baking sheet. Space them about 2 inches apart.
Baking
- Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set but the centers are still slightly soft.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
To keep your Dark Chocolate Brown Sugar Cookies fresh, store them in an airtight container. They last for up to one week at room temperature, and you can freeze the dough or baked cookies for longer storage. When ready to enjoy, thaw in the refrigerator and reheat for 5-10 seconds in the microwave.
