Method
Cooking the Meat
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or turkey until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain any excess fat, then stir in the taco seasoning along with the required water per the packet instructions. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
Preparing the Filling
- While the meat is cooking, warm the refried beans in a saucepan over low heat until heated through. This will make spreading them easier.
Assembling the Crunchwraps
- Lay a large flour tortilla flat on a clean surface. Spread a couple of tablespoons of refried beans in the center, followed by a generous scoop of the seasoned meat. Layer on the shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, shredded cheese, sour cream, and sliced jalapeños.
Wrapping It Up
- Gently fold the sides of the tortilla toward the center, overlapping them to create a secure wrap.
Frying the Crunchwrap
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a little cooking oil. Place the Crunchwrap seam-side down in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes, or until golden brown. Flip and cook the other side until crispy and the cheese is melted.
Serving
- Remove from the skillet and cut in half. Serve with additional sour cream and salsa on the side for dipping.
Notes
Leftover Crunchwraps can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For longer preservation, wrap them tightly in foil and freeze for up to one month. To reheat, unwrap your Crunchwrap and place it in a skillet over medium-low heat, flipping occasionally to ensure even heating. This method helps retain the crispiness of the wrap.
