Preparation
- Start by slicing the onion and mincing the garlic.
- Rub the beef chuck roast generously with salt and pepper.
- If desired, sauté the onion and garlic for a few minutes until fragrant.
Cooking
- Place the seasoned roast in the crockpot. Add sliced onions and minced garlic on top.
- Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours, or until the beef is fork-tender. For quicker cooking, set it to high for 3-4 hours.
- Once cooked, shred the beef with two forks directly in the crockpot, mixing it with the broth.
- Spoon the shredded beef onto sub rolls and top with provolone cheese if desired.
- Serve with a side of flavorful beef broth for dipping.
