Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 3 chopped carrots
  • 2 diced potatoes
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: Bacon bits (Halal-friendly), diced pickles for garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  2. While the beef is browning, chop the onion, carrots, and dice the potatoes.
Cooking
  1. In your Crock Pot, add the browned beef, chopped onion, carrots, and potatoes. Pour in the beef broth and milk. Stir well to combine.
  2. Sprinkle in the garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix everything until well incorporated.
  3. Set your Crock Pot on low heat and cook for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
  4. In the final minutes of cooking, stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
  5. Serve hot garnished with Halal-friendly bacon bits or diced pickles if desired.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute ground turkey for beef, or use Halal ground beef. Cooking on low allows all flavors to meld beautifully. Avoid overcooking the vegetables; they should be tender but not mushy. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
