Preparation
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
- While the beef is browning, chop the onion, carrots, and dice the potatoes.
Cooking
- In your Crock Pot, add the browned beef, chopped onion, carrots, and potatoes. Pour in the beef broth and milk. Stir well to combine.
- Sprinkle in the garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix everything until well incorporated.
- Set your Crock Pot on low heat and cook for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
- In the final minutes of cooking, stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth.
- Serve hot garnished with Halal-friendly bacon bits or diced pickles if desired.
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute ground turkey for beef, or use Halal ground beef. Cooking on low allows all flavors to meld beautifully. Avoid overcooking the vegetables; they should be tender but not mushy. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
