Ingredients

Filling
  • 6 cups sliced apples Any variety you prefer
  • 1 cup brown sugar For sweetness
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
Topping
  • 1 cup oatmeal
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional) Leave out if allergic to nuts

Method

Preparation
  1. Peel, core, and slice your apples into thin wedges. Place them in a large bowl.
  2. In the bowl with the apples, add the brown sugar and cinnamon. Toss it all together until the apples are well coated.
  3. Transfer the coated apples to the bottom of your greased crock pot, spreading them evenly.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the oatmeal, flour, and melted butter. Mix until crumbly. If using nuts, fold them into the mixture.
  5. Sprinkle your oat mixture evenly over the apples in the crock pot.
Cooking
  1. Cover the crock pot and cook on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours, until the apples are tender and the topping is golden.
  2. Once it’s done, scoop out the crisp into bowls and serve it warm with your favorite ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

You can refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days. To freeze, store for up to three months. Reheat in the microwave or oven for restored crispiness.
