  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces Halal-compliant
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds
  • to taste chopped green onions for garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Cut the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a mixing bowl, sprinkle cornstarch over the chicken pieces and toss until evenly coated.
Cooking
  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until hot.
  2. Place chicken in a single layer in the skillet and fry for 4-5 minutes on each side, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  3. In the same skillet, lower the heat and add honey, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and minced garlic. Stir well and simmer for 2-3 minutes until thickened slightly.
  4. Add the crispy chicken back into the skillet and toss until well coated in the sauce.
  5. Sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped green onions on top before serving.

Notes

For extra crunch, consider using panko breadcrumbs instead of cornstarch. For a vegetarian twist, try using vegetables or tofu while keeping it Halal-friendly. Avoid overcrowding the pan to maintain crispiness.
