Ingredients

Potato Preparation
  • 2 large large potatoes Peeled and cut into sticks
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Or your favorite cheese
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs Panko or regular
  • 2 large eggs Beaten
  • Vegetable oil Vegetable oil For frying

Method

Preparation
  1. Peel the potatoes and cut them into the desired stick shape.
  2. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add the potato sticks and cook for about 5-7 minutes until slightly tender but still firm. Drain and let them cool.
  3. In one bowl, mix the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper; in another bowl, have the beaten eggs ready; and in a third bowl, place the breadcrumbs.
Coating and Frying
  1. Take one potato stick, dip it into the flour mixture, then the egg, and finally coat it with breadcrumbs.
  2. In a deep frying pan, heat about an inch of vegetable oil on medium-high heat.
  3. Carefully add the breaded potato sticks to the hot oil in batches. Fry them for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden and crispy.
  4. Once cooked, place the sticks on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
Finishing Touches
  1. After frying, create a slit in the center of each potato stick and add a generous amount of cheese.
  2. Allow them to sit for a minute to let the cheese melt slightly.
  3. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce or enjoy them as is!

Notes

For extra crunch, consider double-coating the potato sticks in flour and breadcrumbs. If using leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
