Preparation
- In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread flour and salt. Mix well.
- Pour the yeast mixture and olive oil into the flour mixture. Stir until a dough starts to form.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
Baking
- Preheat your oven to 500°F (260°C). Grease a rectangular or square steel pan heavily with olive oil.
- Once risen, transfer the dough to the pan. Gently stretch it to fit, making sure to push it into the corners.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the dough, then add your marinara sauce on top. Finally, layer on your favorite toppings.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
For best results, use room temperature ingredients. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
