Ingredients

Crab Filling
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened) Ensure the cream cheese is softened for easier mixing.
  • 1 cup crab meat (fresh or canned, drained) You can use lump crab meat for a gourmet touch.
  • 1/2 cup green onions (finely chopped) Adds flavor and color.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs For coating.
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • to taste salt and pepper Salt and pepper Adjust according to your taste.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Adds brightness.
  • 1 large egg (beaten) For coating the crab bites.
  • Oil (for frying) Use enough oil to submerge the bites.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, crab meat, green onions, garlic powder, onion powder, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Mix well until evenly incorporated.
  2. Take about a tablespoon of the mixture and shape it into small balls or patties. You should be able to make around 12–15 bites.
Coating
  1. Pour breadcrumbs into a shallow dish. Dip each crab bite into the beaten egg, allowing the excess to drip off, then roll it in the breadcrumbs to coat evenly.
Frying
  1. In a frying pan, heat oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully place the crab bites in the oil, frying them in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  2. Cook for about 3–4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
Serving
  1. Remove the bites from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

If leftover, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 3-4 days or freeze for up to a month. Reheat in the oven at 375°F (190°C) for 10-15 minutes until crispy.
