Ingredients

For the Beef
  • 1 pound Beef strips (tender cuts like sirloin) Choose tender cuts for the best texture.
  • 1/2 cup Cornstarch For that extra crunch!
  • 1 cup Vegetable oil For frying.
For the Sauce
  • 2-3 pieces Red chillies, sliced Adjust based on your spice preference.
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar To balance the spice.
For Garnishing
  • 2 pieces Green onions, finely chopped For garnishing.

Method

Preparation
  1. Slice the beef into thin strips, about 1/4 inch wide, to ensure quick cooking and maximum crispiness.
  2. In a bowl, toss the beef strips with cornstarch until they are well-coated.
  3. In a deep frying pan or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
Cooking
  1. Add the coated beef strips in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 4-5 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove them and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  2. In a separate pan, heat a teaspoon of oil. Add the minced garlic and sliced red chillies, sautéing for about a minute until fragrant.
  3. Then add the soy sauce and sugar, cooking for another 2 minutes until combined.
  4. Add the crispy beef strips back in and toss them with the sauce, ensuring each piece is well-coated.
Serving
  1. Garnish with finely chopped green onions and serve hot over a bed of steamed rice or alongside fresh vegetables.

Notes

Ensure your oil is hot enough before adding beef; this helps seal in moisture and create that crunch.
