For the Cookie Dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure butter is at room temperature.
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips Feel free to customize with other types of chocolate.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, add the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Cream together until light and fluffy for about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract. Mix until well combined and smooth.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix this dry mixture into the wet mixture, being careful not to overmix.
  5. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  8. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For even better cookies, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. They can also be frozen for up to three months.
