Method
Cooking the Beef
- In a medium skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until thoroughly cooked.
- Once the beef is cooked, add the chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine and cook for another 2-3 minutes, letting the spices infuse.
Preparing Taco Shells
- While the beef is cooking, heat your taco shells as per package instructions—either in the oven or microwave.
Assembling Tacos
- Fill each taco shell with a generous amount of the seasoned beef mixture.
- Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, and a dollop of sour cream and salsa.
Serving
- Serve immediately while still warm!
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute ground beef with ground chicken or turkey. Prepare toppings in advance for quick assembly. Avoid overcooking the beef to keep it moist. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze for 3 months. Reheat gently to avoid sogginess in taco shells.
