Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure butter is softened but not melted for the best texture.
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure even baking.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Blend in the vanilla extract and gradually add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually incorporate these dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Mix well, but do not over-mix.
  5. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed through the dough.
  6. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. The centers may look slightly underbaked.
  2. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, ensure butter is at room temperature. Consider chilling the dough for 30 minutes for richer flavor. Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week or freeze for up to three months.
