Ingredients

For the Dough
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour For that classic churro texture.
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar Adds a hint of sweetness to the dough.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder Helps the churros puff up nicely.
  • ½ teaspoon salt Enhances overall flavor.
  • ½ cup water Necessary for bringing the dough together.
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil To enrich the dough and keep it moist.
For the Coating
  • ½ cup granulated sugar The sweet sugary goodness after frying.
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon A warm spice that will make your churros irresistible.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water, vegetable oil, and granulated sugar. Once the mixture comes to a boil, remove it from the heat and stir in all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt until fully combined and a dough forms.
  2. Allow the dough to cool for about 5 minutes so you can handle it without burning your hands.
  3. Transfer the dough into a piping bag fitted with a star tip. If you don't have a piping bag, a zip-top bag with a corner snipped off will work too! Pipe small bite-sized pieces onto parchment paper.
Air Frying
  1. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Once heated, place a few churro bites in the air fryer basket, ensuring they don’t touch.
  2. Air fry for 8-10 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
  3. Combine cinnamon and sugar in a shallow dish. Once the churro bites are cooked, immediately toss them in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  4. Enjoy warm with your favorite dips or chocolate sauce!

Notes

For flavor variations, consider infusing your dough with a pinch of nutmeg or even vanilla extract. Keep a close eye on your churros to avoid overcooking; the perfect churros are golden and fluffy! If the dough is too sticky, add more flour; if it’s too dry, a splash of water can help.
