Ingredients

For the Danishes
  • 1 can 8 ounces of crescent roll dough
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg yolk (optional for an egg wash) Beaten for egg wash
  • Powdered sugar for dusting Optional for serving

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure the danishes bake evenly.
  2. On a clean, flat surface, unroll the crescent roll dough into a rectangle. Pinch the seams together to create a uniform sheet of dough.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and creamy.
  4. Cut the dough into triangles according to the pre-scored lines. Place a heaping tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture on the wide end of each triangle.
  5. Roll up each triangle from the wide end to the point, tucking the tip underneath the pastry.
  6. If desired, beat the egg yolk and brush it over the danishes for a beautiful golden color once baked.
Baking
  1. Place the danishes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for about 12-15 minutes or until they are golden brown.
  2. Allow the danishes to cool for a few minutes before dusting with powdered sugar and serving.
