Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound Ground beef or chicken (halal) You can substitute with turkey or chicken.
  • 1 cup Onions, diced
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 cups Beef or chicken broth (halal)
  • 1 cup Heavy cream
  • 2 cups Elbow macaroni
  • 1.5 cups Shredded cheddar cheese (or a blend of your choice) Try Gruyère or Monterey Jack for different flavors.
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • to taste Salt and pepper
Optional Garnish
  • to taste Chopped fresh parsley For garnish.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onions and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until they become translucent. Then, add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  2. Add the ground beef or chicken to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper. Cook until the meat is browned, stirring occasionally to break it up (about 5-7 minutes).
  3. Once the meat is cooked through, pour in the broth and add the elbow macaroni. Stir well to combine and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  4. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 10-12 minutes, or until the macaroni is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  5. Remove the lid and stir in the heavy cream and shredded cheese. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
Serving
  1. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve hot.

Notes

For perfect Creamy Hamburger Helper, swap ground beef for turkey or chicken if preferred. Stir frequently while simmering to prevent sticking. Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days or freeze for 2 months. When reheating, add a splash of broth or cream to regain creaminess.
