Ingredients

  • 1 unbaked pie crust 1 unbaked pie crust (store-bought or homemade)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Place the unbaked pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish. If necessary, crimp the edges for a decorative look.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and granulated sugar until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the milk and vanilla extract to the egg mixture. Continue whisking until fully incorporated.
  5. Add the ground nutmeg and salt (if using) and give it a final stir.
  6. Carefully pour the custard mixture into the prepared pie crust.
Baking
  1. Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for about 45-50 minutes. The custard should be set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
  2. Once baked, remove the pie from the oven and let it cool at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider topping your custard pie with nutmeg or whipped cream. Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
