Method
Cooking the Pasta
- Start by boiling a pot of salted water. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving some pasta water.
Cooking the Beef
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Season with salt and pepper.
Adding Vegetables
- Stir in the chopped onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic. Sauté until the veggies soften, about 3-4 minutes.
Creating the Sauce
- Lower the heat, and pour in the heavy cream and Cajun seasoning. Stir well to combine all ingredients. Allow the sauce to simmer for about 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
Combining Everything
- Add the cooked pasta to the skillet. Toss everything together, adding reserved pasta water as needed to achieve your desired sauce consistency.
Serving
- Garnish with freshly grated Parmesan cheese before serving hot!
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or a non-dairy alternative. To save time, chop vegetables while pasta cooks. Avoid overcooking the pasta for the perfect al dente texture.
