Ingredients

For the filling
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
For the French toast
  • 4 slices bread (any type) Thicker slices like brioche or challah recommended.
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Method

Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  2. Take two slices of bread and spread an even layer of the cream cheese mixture on one side of each slice. Place the other slice on top to create a sandwich.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and cinnamon until well combined.
  4. Preheat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a generous pat of butter.
Cooking
  1. Dip each stuffed sandwich into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are coated. Allow excess liquid to drip off, then place the sandwich on the skillet.
  2. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  3. Once cooked, transfer to a plate and keep warm while repeating with the remaining sandwiches.
  4. Serve with a drizzle of maple syrup and your favorite toppings.

Notes

For ideal results, use thicker slices of bread like brioche or challah. Substitutions can be made with low-fat cream cheese or honey for a healthier option. Avoid overcrowding the skillet.
