Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out your thawed puff pastry sheet until it’s roughly 1/8 inch thick.
- In a medium bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Cut the rolled pastry into squares (about 4 x 4 inches).
- Spoon a generous amount of the cream cheese mixture onto the center of each pastry square.
- Fold one corner of the square to the opposite corner to create a triangle and press the edges together.
- Use a fork to seal the edges securely.
- Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush the tops of the pastries for a shiny finish.
Baking
- Place the pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until they’re puffed and golden.
- Allow them to cool slightly before serving.
- Serve with fruit preserves for added sweetness.
Notes
For a different flavor profile, consider blending in some lemon zest. Avoid overbaking to prevent a tough texture. Store baked pastries in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze before baking for longer storage.
