Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 package puff pastry (thawed according to package directions)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar Can be substituted with honey
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 unit egg (for egg wash) Gives a shiny finish
Optional Ingredients
  • fruit preserves or fresh fruit For filling or topping

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out your thawed puff pastry sheet until it’s roughly 1/8 inch thick.
  3. In a medium bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  4. Cut the rolled pastry into squares (about 4 x 4 inches).
  5. Spoon a generous amount of the cream cheese mixture onto the center of each pastry square.
  6. Fold one corner of the square to the opposite corner to create a triangle and press the edges together.
  7. Use a fork to seal the edges securely.
  8. Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush the tops of the pastries for a shiny finish.
Baking
  1. Place the pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until they’re puffed and golden.
  2. Allow them to cool slightly before serving.
  3. Serve with fruit preserves for added sweetness.

Notes

For a different flavor profile, consider blending in some lemon zest. Avoid overbaking to prevent a tough texture. Store baked pastries in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze before baking for longer storage.
