Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 round 8 ounces of brie cheese
  • 1 cup cranberry sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1 large egg (for an egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped walnuts or pecans (optional) Adds texture
  • to taste Fresh rosemary or thyme for garnish (optional)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. If preferred, cut off the rind on the top of the brie for easier scooping after baking.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Place the brie in the center and spoon cranberry sauce on top.
  4. Optionally, sprinkle chopped nuts over the cranberry layer.
  5. Fold the pastry over the brie, sealing it tightly. Use a fork to press the edges for decoration.
  6. Beat the egg and brush it over the pastry for a golden finish.
  7. Place the wrapped brie on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Remove from the oven, cool for a few minutes, garnish with fresh herbs, and serve warm with crackers or bread.

Notes

For substitutions, phyllo dough can replace puff pastry with melted butter for layering. Keep an eye on baking time to avoid overcooking. Ensure proper sealing to prevent leaks.
