Ingredients
Method
Preheat the Oven
- Start by preheating your oven to 425°F (220°C). A hot oven is key to getting those biscuits to rise beautifully!
Prepare the Biscuit Dough
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, garlic powder, and salt. Using a pastry cutter, or your fingers, mix in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the cheddar cheese.
Add Milk
- Gradually add the milk to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Avoid overmixing; some lumps are okay!
Make the Crab Filling
- In a separate bowl, combine the cooked crab meat, cream cheese, mayonnaise, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and green onions (if using). Blend them until evenly mixed.
Form the Biscuits
- On a floured surface, turn out the biscuit dough. Pat it into a rectangle about ½ inch thick. Cut into squares or circles.
Stuff the Biscuits
- Take a piece of biscuit dough, place a spoonful of crab filling in the center, and fold it over to seal. Make sure the filling is well enclosed, then gently reshape it back into a round biscuit.
Bake
- Place the stuffed biscuits onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
Prepare the Lemon Butter
- While the biscuits are baking, mix together the melted butter, lemon juice, lemon zest, and garlic powder in a bowl.
Serve
- Once baked, drizzle the lemon butter over the warm biscuits, and get ready for a flavorful experience.
Notes
If you can’t find crab meat, you can use Halal alternatives like shrimp or fish for a similar flavor profile. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 2 months. To reheat, place in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes.
