Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Mixing
- In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- Gently fold in the oats, chocolate chips, and nuts if using.
Baking
- Using a spoon or cookie scoop, drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze cookies in a single layer and they’ll last for about three months.
