Ingredients

For the Dough
  • 2 tablespoons active dry yeast
  • 2 cups warm milk (about 110°F) Ensure the milk is warm but not hot.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 4-5 cups all-purpose flour Add incrementally until the dough is no longer sticky.
For Brushing
  • 1/4 cup melted butter For brushing the tops after baking.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the warm milk and sugar, then sprinkle the yeast on top. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
  2. Add the vegetable oil, salt, and egg to the yeast mixture. Stir until combined.
  3. Gradually mix in the flour, one cup at a time, until the dough is no longer sticky.
  4. On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. After rising, punch down the dough and roll it into small balls (about the size of a golf ball). Place them on a greased baking sheet.
  7. Cover and let the rolls rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. As soon as they come out of the oven, brush the tops with melted butter.

Notes

If storing leftovers, use an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for about a week. Reheat in the oven or microwave for best results. Feel free to experiment with flavors by adding herbs or spices to the dough.
