- Shred the green cabbage and carrots into a large mixing bowl.
- In a separate bowl, combine the sugar, mayonnaise, buttermilk (or substitute), apple cider vinegar, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until smooth.
- Pour the dressing over the shredded cabbage and carrots. Gently toss until well coated.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving.
- Toss again before serving alongside your favorite dishes.
Notes
For a more flavorful slaw, make it a day ahead. Use fresh vegetables and avoid over-saturating cabbage with dressing until serving.
