For the Sandwich
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 4 slices Bread, your choice of type Experiment with different types of bread for added flavor.
  • Butter, for spreading on the bread Lightly butter the outer sides for a crispy texture.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the drained canned tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, diced celery, and red onion. Season with salt and black pepper to taste, mixing until well combined.
Assembly
  1. Preheat your skillet over medium heat.
  2. Take two slices of bread and spread a generous amount of the tuna mixture onto one slice. Top with shredded cheddar cheese and then place another slice of bread on top to form a sandwich.
Cooking
  1. Lightly butter the outer sides of each sandwich.
  2. Place the assembled sandwiches in the heated skillet. Cook until golden brown on one side, about 3-4 minutes. Then, flip them over using a spatula.
  3. After flipping, press down slightly with the spatula and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the other side is golden and the cheese is fully melted.
Serving
  1. Once both sides are crispy and the cheese has melted nicely, remove from the skillet, slice in half, and serve immediately.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat gently in a skillet or toaster oven to regain the crispy texture.
