Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 1.5 pounds ground beef (or your preferred blend)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
Topping
  • 0.5 cup ketchup (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (optional, for added sweetness)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  3. Transfer the meat mixture to a greased loaf pan or shape it into a loaf on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the ketchup and brown sugar if using. Spread the mixture over the top of the meatloaf.
Cooking
  1. Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven and bake for about 1 hour or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  2. Let the meatloaf rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

For a wholesome meal, pair the meatloaf with creamy mashed potatoes and steamed green beans. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
