Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
- Transfer the meat mixture to a greased loaf pan or shape it into a loaf on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, mix the ketchup and brown sugar if using. Spread the mixture over the top of the meatloaf.
Cooking
- Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven and bake for about 1 hour or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
- Let the meatloaf rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.
Notes
For a wholesome meal, pair the meatloaf with creamy mashed potatoes and steamed green beans. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
