Preparation
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, minced garlic, onion powder, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Use your hands to mix until everything is well incorporated. Don’t overmix, or your meatballs will turn out tough!
- Lightly oil your hands and scoop out a handful of the mixture. Roll it gently between your palms to form balls about the size of a golf ball.
Cooking
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add a couple of tablespoons of oil. Once hot, place the meatballs in the skillet (in batches, if necessary) and sear them for about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally until browned on all sides.
- Once the meatballs are browned, pour your marinara sauce over them, ensuring they are mostly submerged. Cover the skillet and let them simmer on low heat for around 20 minutes, so they absorb those luscious flavors.
- Serve your meatballs over your favorite pasta, in a sandwich, or enjoy them plain with a sprinkle of Parmesan.
Notes
For meat choices, ground turkey or chicken can be used as substitutes for beef if you prefer a leaner option. If you have leftovers, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or freeze for longer storage.
