Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup Can be substituted with honey or agave syrup.
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1 piece zest of 1 orange Brings a punch of flavor.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon food coloring Optional for enhanced color.

Preparation
  1. Begin by measuring out all your ingredients. Have your zest ready.
Cooking
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, water, corn syrup, and salt. Stir well to dissolve the sugar.
  2. Place the saucepan over medium heat and let it simmer without stirring until the mixture reaches a temperature of 320°F (160°C).
  3. Once the temperature hits 320°F, carefully stir in the orange juice and orange zest, being cautious of splashing.
  4. If desired, add the food coloring and mix until fully incorporated.
  5. Carefully pour the mixture into a greased baking sheet or candy mold, spreading it evenly. Let it rest for about 30 minutes to cool and harden.
  6. Once cool, cut the candy into desired shapes and dust with extra sugar if desired.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks. Refrigerate for longer storage, up to a month. Let sit at room temperature to soften before enjoying.
