Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of Bisquick mix and 1/4 cup of sugar, whisking them together to combine.
- Add the melted butter to the dry ingredients, then crack in the egg and pour in the milk. Stir together until just combined—don’t overmix; a few lumps are okay!
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Fold the dough gently until it comes together, about 5–6 times. Be careful not to overwork it, as this can make the scones tough.
- Shape your scones into a 1-inch thick round. Cut them into wedges or use your favorite cookie cutter for fun shapes.
- Place the cut scones on your prepared baking sheet, giving them some space to rise and expand.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until they’re golden brown. Keep an eye on them; ovens can vary!
- Enjoy warm with your favorite spreads or toppings.
Notes
For experimenting, consider adding chocolate chips, dried fruits, or nuts for unique flavors. Be mindful not to overmix the dough to avoid tough scones. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze unbaked scones wrapped in plastic wrap for up to 3 months. Reheat in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes.
