Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Toss to ensure even coating and set aside.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt until well mixed.
- Stir in the melted butter and milk to form a smooth batter. Don’t worry if it seems a bit lumpy; it will bake beautifully!
Layering
- Pour half of the batter into the greased baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Layer the apple mixture over the batter, making sure to distribute it evenly.
- Top with the remaining batter, spooning it over the apples. It’s okay if some of the apples peek through!
Baking
- Bake for about 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
- Allow it to cool slightly before serving warm, preferably with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat before serving.
