Method
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Wash and slice the apples.
Mix the Filling
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and flour. Toss until the apples are evenly coated.
Prepare the Crust
- Roll out one of the refrigerated pie crusts into a 9-inch pie dish, covering the bottom and sides. Trim excess dough.
Fill with Apples
- Spoon the apple mixture into the prepared crust, distributing it evenly.
Top with Butter and Crust
- Dot the filling with butter cubes. Place the second pie crust over the filling, sealing the edges by crimping. Cut small slits in the top crust.
Bake the Pie
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling. Cover edges with foil if they brown too quickly.
Cool and Serve
- Allow the pie to cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with toppings.
Notes
You can enhance your pie with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Store leftover pie covered in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days, or freeze for up to 2 months.
