Ingredients

For the dough
  • 1 cup water Use fresh water
  • 1/2 cup butter Unsalted butter recommended
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt Adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Provides a lovely flavor
  • 3 pieces eggs Add one at a time
For the coating
  • 1 cup sugar Granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon For a warm flavor
For frying
  • Oil Oil for frying

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium-sized saucepan, bring 1 cup of water and 1/2 cup of butter to a boil over medium heat. Add the salt and stir until well combined.
  2. Once the mixture reaches a boil, reduce the heat and stir in the flour quickly until a dough forms. Cook it for an additional minute on low heat, stirring constantly.
  3. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool for about 5 minutes. Gradually add 3 eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
Cooking
  1. While you prepare the dough, heat oil in a deep frying pan or pot over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  2. Use a spoon or piping bag to drop small balls of dough into the hot oil. Fry them until they are golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  3. Remove the Churro Balls from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Combine 1 cup of sugar and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon in a shallow dish. Roll the warm balls in the sugar-cinnamon mixture to coat them evenly.
  4. Enjoy your homemade Churro Balls while they’re warm for the best texture and flavor!
