Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 large large apples Any variety you prefer
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Semi-sweet or milk chocolate
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • ½ cup chopped nuts Optional, such as pecans or walnuts
  • Sea salt Optional for a sweet and salty contrast

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by washing the apples thoroughly. Once cleaned, slice them into thick wedges, ensuring they’re about ½ inch thick to hold the toppings nicely. Remove any seeds and set them aside on a serving platter.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, add the chocolate chips. Heat in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until melted and smooth.
  3. Take an apple slice and dip about half of it into the melted chocolate, making sure it’s well coated. Let any excess chocolate drip off before placing it back on the platter.
  4. Warm the caramel sauce in the microwave for about 15 seconds to make it easier to drizzle. Using a spoon, drizzle the caramel generously over the chocolate-coated apples.
  5. If you’re using nuts, sprinkle them on top of the caramel while it’s still warm so that they stick nicely.
  6. For an exciting flavor contrast, sprinkle a bit of sea salt over the top.
  7. Allow the apple slices to sit for about 20 minutes at room temperature, or until the chocolate and caramel have set.
  8. Share these delightful slices with family and friends or enjoy them as a sweet snack!

Notes

Choose crisp apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for a refreshing contrast to the sweetness. If the chocolate starts to harden, microwave it for a few seconds to keep it workable. Customize these slices with different toppings if desired.
