Preparation
- Grease a square 9x9-inch baking dish with a little butter or non-stick spray.
- In a large pot over low heat, melt the unsalted butter, stirring continuously until completely melted.
- Once the butter is melted, add in the mini marshmallows, stirring until they are completely melted and smooth (about 3–4 minutes).
- Remove the pot from heat and fold in the chocolate chips. Stir well until the chocolate is melted and mixed with the marshmallow mixture.
- Gradually add in the Rice Krispies, carefully folding them into the chocolate-marshmallow mixture until all the cereal is evenly coated.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and use a spatula to spread and press the mixture evenly without compacting it too much.
- Allow the treats to cool at room temperature for 1 hour or refrigerate for about 30 minutes for quicker results.
- Once set, slice them into squares and enjoy your delightful Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats.
Notes
For substitutions, white chocolate or dairy-free options can be used. Avoid packing the mixture too tightly in the pan for best texture. Store in an airtight container for up to one week or freeze for up to three months.
