Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips or dark chocolate chips for a richer taste
  • 1/2 cup mini marshmallows ensure they are halal-certified
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter or a nut-free alternative like sun butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar optional, for dusting
Toppings
  • to taste sprinkles or chopped nuts, or shredded coconut

Method

Preparation
  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the milk chocolate chips, peanut butter, and vanilla extract. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted and smooth, about 1-2 minutes total.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, add the Rice Krispies and mini marshmallows. Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the cereal mixture, ensuring all the rice is well coated. Stir until everything is mixed thoroughly.
  3. Let the mixture cool for about 5 minutes until it’s manageable. Using your hands, scoop a small amount of the mixture and roll it into a ball about 1 inch in diameter. Repeat until all the mixture is used.
  4. If desired, roll the balls in powdered sugar or drizzle with additional melted chocolate. You can also sprinkle toppings over them for added flavor and texture.
  5. Place the finished Chocolate Rice Krispie Balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to set.

Notes

To keep your Chocolate Rice Krispie Balls fresh, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. They can be frozen for up to 3 months. Let them thaw in the fridge and avoid reheating in the microwave to preserve texture.
