Ingredients
  

For the crust
  • 1.5 cups chocolate cookie crumbs
  • 0.25 cups unsalted butter, melted
For the filling
  • 1 cups heavy cream
  • 8 ounces dark chocolate, chopped
  • 0.5 cups orange juice freshly squeezed is best
  • 1 zest of 1 orange
  • 0.25 cups sugar
  • 1 pinch salt

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, mix the chocolate cookie crumbs with the melted butter until combined.
  2. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom and up the sides of a tart pan.
  3. Place it in the refrigerator to chill while you prepare the filling.
Filling
  1. In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until just simmering.
  2. Pour in the chopped dark chocolate and remove the pan from heat. Stir until melted and smooth.
  3. Stir in the orange juice, zest, sugar, and a pinch of salt until well combined.
Assembly
  1. Pour the chocolate mixture into the prepared crust, smoothing it out with a spatula.
  2. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until the filling is set.
  3. Once set, slice the tarts and serve chilled.
  4. You can garnish them with whipped cream or additional orange zest for an extra touch.

Notes

Store any leftover Chocolate Orange Tarts in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. They can be frozen for up to a month if wrapped tightly in plastic wrap. For the best flavor, allow the filled tarts to chill overnight.
