Preparation
- Start by greasing a square baking dish (8x8 will do). Set it aside for later.
- In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup of butter, and 1/4 cup of milk. Over medium heat, stir the ingredients until the mixture comes to a rolling boil.
- Once boiling, allow it to simmer for 4-5 minutes. Stir frequently to prevent burning. The mixture should thicken a bit.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and quickly add in 2 cups of chocolate chips and a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Stir until completely smooth.
- If you’re using chopped nuts, fold them into the mixture now.
- Pour the fudge mixture into your prepared baking dish, smoothing the top with a spatula. Let it cool to room temperature, then transfer it to the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to set.
- Once set, cut it into squares and serve. Enjoy your delicious Chocolate Fudge!
