Chocolate Fig Bars

Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup dried figs, chopped Ensure figs are finely chopped for even distribution.
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Use your favorite type of chocolate.
  • 1 cup oats Regular or quick oats can be used.
  • 1/2 cup almond butter Can substitute with other nut or seed butters.
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup Either can be used for sweetness.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Finely chop the dried figs and measure out all the ingredients.
Melting Chocolate
  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips in 30-second bursts, stirring in between until smooth.
Mixing Ingredients
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the oats, chopped figs, almond butter, honey or maple syrup, salt, and vanilla extract.
  2. Fold in the melted chocolate until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
Transferring to Dish
  1. Line an 8x8 inch dish with parchment paper and pour the mixture into it, spreading it evenly.
Chilling
  1. Refrigerate the dish for at least 1 hour or until the mixture is firm.
Cutting and Serving
  1. Once chilled, cut the bars into squares or rectangles using a sharp knife. They are ready to enjoy!

Notes

To keep the bars fresh, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks or freeze for up to three months. Thaw at room temperature before serving, or microwave for a few seconds.
