Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to achieve a golden-brown finish.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry sheets. Cut each sheet into squares (about 4x4 inches).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth. Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
- Place a heaping tablespoon of the filling in the center of each pastry square. Fold corners over the filling to create a pocket and pinch to seal.
- Brush the tops of the pastries with the beaten egg for a golden appearance.
Baking
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the filled Danish on it.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
Cooling and Serving
- Cool slightly on a wire rack. Optionally, sprinkle powdered sugar on top before serving.
Notes
Enjoy fresh, but can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Freeze before baking for longer storage. When reheating, bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes to retain crispiness.
