Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure it's at room temperature.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs At room temperature.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sour cream Can substitute with Greek yogurt.
Chocolate Chips
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips Feel free to experiment with different types.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a standard 9x5 inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened unsalted butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Gradually mix in the sour cream until smooth.
Baking
  1. Slowly add your dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  2. Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.
  3. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  4. Allow the loaf to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  5. Slice and enjoy once cooled.

Notes

Store leftover cake tightly wrapped or in an airtight container for up to 5 days. Can be frozen for up to three months.
