Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened Ensure butter is at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour Can substitute half with almond flour for nutty flavor
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 24 pieces Chocolate kisses or any other Halal-friendly chocolate

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure even baking.
  2. In a large bowl, combine softened butter and granulated sugar, creaming them together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the mixture, beating until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together cocoa powder, flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually incorporate this dry mixture into the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed.
  5. Using a cookie scoop or spoon, form small balls of dough and place them on a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet, spacing them at least two inches apart.
  6. Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are firm but the centers remain slightly soft.
  7. Remove from the oven and press a chocolate kiss gently into the center of each cookie. Allow to cool on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.
  8. Enjoy with a glass of milk or share with family and friends!
