Method
Preparation
- Start by rinsing the prawns under cold water and patting them dry with paper towels.
- Finely chop the garlic, ginger, and green onions.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the prawns, minced garlic, ginger, green onions, soy sauce, cornstarch, egg white, salt, and pepper. Mix until prawn mixture is evenly coated.
- With wet hands, take small portions of the mixture and form them into balls, roughly the size of a golf ball.
Cooking
- In a deep frying pan, heat enough oil over medium-high heat for frying.
- Carefully add the prawn balls to the hot oil, avoiding overcrowding the pan, and fry in batches for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown.
- Use a slotted spoon to remove them and drain on paper towels.
Serving
- Serve your crispy Chinese Prawns Balls warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
For a Halal-friendly alternative, you can use chicken instead of prawns. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, or freeze them before frying for longer storage.
