Ingredients
  

For the Prawn Balls
  • 500 g prawns, peeled and deveined Fresh prawns for best flavor.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Enhances flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced Adds depth of flavor.
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped For freshness.
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce For seasoning.
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch Helps bind the mixture.
  • 1 unit egg white A binding agent.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Salt and pepper Season according to preference.
  • Oil for frying Oil for frying Use a neutral oil with a high smoke point.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Start by rinsing the prawns under cold water and patting them dry with paper towels.
  2. Finely chop the garlic, ginger, and green onions.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the prawns, minced garlic, ginger, green onions, soy sauce, cornstarch, egg white, salt, and pepper. Mix until prawn mixture is evenly coated.
  4. With wet hands, take small portions of the mixture and form them into balls, roughly the size of a golf ball.
Cooking
  1. In a deep frying pan, heat enough oil over medium-high heat for frying.
  2. Carefully add the prawn balls to the hot oil, avoiding overcrowding the pan, and fry in batches for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown.
  3. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and drain on paper towels.
Serving
  1. Serve your crispy Chinese Prawns Balls warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

For a Halal-friendly alternative, you can use chicken instead of prawns. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, or freeze them before frying for longer storage.
