Ingredients

For the marinade
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
For the skewers
  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into cubes
  • Skewers (wooden or metal) If using wooden skewers, soak in water for at least 30 minutes.
  • Vegetables for skewering (optional, e.g., bell peppers, onion) Chop into similar-sized pieces as the chicken.

Method

Preparation
  1. Cut the chicken breast into bite-sized cubes.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, minced garlic, and grated ginger to create your marinade.
  3. Add the chicken cubes to the marinade, ensuring they are evenly coated. Cover and let marinate for at least 30 minutes or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator.
Skewering and Grilling
  1. If using vegetables, chop them into similar-sized pieces to the chicken.
  2. Thread the marinated chicken and vegetables alternately onto the skewers.
  3. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  4. Grill the skewers for about 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally until the chicken is cooked through and has a beautiful char.
Serving
  1. Remove the skewers from the grill and allow them to rest for a few minutes.
  2. Serve hot, perhaps with some steamed rice or a fresh salad on the side.

Notes

For substitutions, chicken thighs can be used instead of chicken breast for juicier results. For a vegetarian option, use firm tofu. Marinating longer infuses more flavor. Avoid overcrowding skewers for even cooking.
