Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Lightly spray a muffin tin with cooking spray and gently press each wonton wrapper into the muffin cups, creating a small 'cup' shape.
- In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the ground chicken until it's fully cooked and no longer pink. Season it with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
- Stir in the marinara sauce with the cooked chicken, ensuring all the meat is coated in the sauce.
- Spoon a generous amount of the chicken mixture into each wonton cup.
- Sprinkle a mix of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the top of each filled cup.
- Place the muffin tin in the oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the wontons are golden brown.
- Once done, remove the cups from the oven, let them cool for a few minutes, and garnish with fresh basil if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
For substitutions, ground turkey or plant-based options can be used instead of ground chicken. Be careful not to overfill the wonton wrappers to prevent spillage during baking. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days or frozen for up to a month.
