Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 3 slices slices of bread (white, whole wheat, or your favorite type) Choose your preferred bread type.
  • 4 oz cooked chicken breast, sliced (make sure it’s Halal-friendly) Shred or slice for easier layering.
  • 2 slices turkey bacon, cooked (optional; replace with Halal-friendly turkey alternatives) Use your preferred meat substitute if desired.
  • 2 slices of tomato Use ripe tomatoes for best flavor.
  • 1 leaf of lettuce Rinse and dry thoroughly before using.
  • to taste mayonnaise Adjust amount according to preference.
  • to taste salt and pepper Season to your liking.

Method

Preparation
  1. Begin by toasting your slices of bread until they reach a lovely golden brown. This adds the perfect crunch to your sandwich. Set aside.
  2. If your chicken is leftover or pre-cooked, slice it thinly for easy layering. If you’re starting from raw, ensure you cook thoroughly for food safety.
Assembly
  1. Take one slice of toast and spread a generous amount of mayonnaise. Then, layer in the sliced chicken, followed by one slice of turkey bacon (optional), a drizzle of salt and pepper, and two slices of tomato. Add a handful of fresh lettuce.
  2. Place a second slice of toast on top, and repeat the layering process: a dollop of mayo, more chicken, turkey bacon, tomato, lettuce, salt, and pepper.
  3. Top with the final slice of toast.
Serving
  1. Cut the sandwich in half or quarters for easy handling. Serve with your favorite side, maybe some chips or a simple salad.

Notes

To cater to different dietary needs, swap turkey bacon with your favorite meat alternative or use grilled vegetables for a vegetarian twist. Make sure to prepare all toppings ahead of time to reduce the risk of your bread getting soggy. Aim for a balanced spread of mayonnaise to avoid overpowering the sandwich.
